About the Celebrating Grace Hymnal

The Celebrating Grace Hymnal is a collaborative initiative of the Townsend-McAfee Institute in Church Music at Mercer University, Mercer University Press and over 50 Baptist pastors, church musicians, composers, scholars and laypersons from the United States and Canada.

The hymnal will embrace the Baptist heritage as a practical and well-constructed church music resource for congregational worship and ministry. The hymnal will be broad in scope and supportive of Baptist patterns of worship.

The beautifully bound hymnal will be published for congregational use, yet will provide planning and supplemental resources for church worship leaders. It will include traditional hymns, congregational songs, scripture songs, worship readings and extensive indices. The hymnal will be organized in a user-friendly manner and feature expanded sections on topics such as baptism, the Lord’s Supper, family, Christmas, Lent, Easter and many other topics identified by worship leaders as areas of need.

Online Resources

The hymnal’s online resources will be distinctive. The extensive Internet resource will provide worship planning tools, responsive readings and litanies, as well as historical information regarding the hymns and biographical information on the authors and composers.

Detailed indices and Biblical indices will be available.

Printed supplemental musical arrangements, such as piano and organ arrangements, instrumental and orchestral arrangements, and descants and codas of varying difficulties will be available online for immediate purchase and downloading.

Complementary choral anthems and congregational anthems will also be available for immediate purchase online.
