This setting of the plaintive early American folk hymn "Poor Wayfaring Stranger" is arranged for SATB voices and piano, oboe (or C-instrument), cello and five handbells. The piece utilizes unison, three- and four-part singing with accessible vocal ranges. The handbell part employs the "singing bell" technique, producing a tone from the bell by moving a wooden dowel around its outside rim. If used, the bells play alone at the beginning of the piece and reappear at the end, the final closing sounds heard as the piece comes to a quiet end. Expanded folios include standard and large print scores for choir/keyboard, demonstration and accompaniment track MP3s, conductor's score, instrumental charts, and full license to duplicate scores and demonstration track.

HART MORRIS began his noted composing career out of necessity. In 1974, the church he was serving received a three-octave set of handbells. To inaugurate the gift, he wrote a piece for youth handbell choir that was immediately published. His long music ministry and composing careers remained united and vibrant throughout his tenures in Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. Although the majority of his works are for handbells, he also composes choral and instrumental selections. Hart is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and the University of Houston. He and his wife Marty enjoy retirement in Wagoner County, OK, complete with horses, a cat and nine grandchildren.
